The October Birthday Party at Oak Grove Bellemeade is truly one that I do not want to ever forget. It was full of little moments that filled with my heart with joy and love and reminded my why our work is so important.
From when a child chased after the RPD Officers, to stop them from leaving so he could give them a high five (keep in mind this was the same child who looked at me like I had 6 heads when I said the Police came to celebrate with him!), to the friendships made, to the simple wishes and dreams that I overheard, every second was more special than the last. But really, isn’t that every birthday party?!
This sweetheart is one of the biggest lights in my life — we’ve celebrated her for three years now, and I think my heart grows about 16 times each time!
Then, a volunteer sent me this text after the birthday party was over and I think it made my whole week!
I think this speaks volumes about the caliber of our volunteers and how we would truly be nothing without their enthusiasm and their passion for our mission. Each volunteer is genuine in their efforts to celebrate our birthday children. This month, we were joined by members of Kappa Alpha Theta from both UR and Randolph-Macon, UR Lacrosse, and plenty of community members!
There was a lot of love and celebration packed into an hour and fifteen minutes and we couldn’t be more thankful for such joyous chaos.
Happy Birthday October babes!
